In maart 1950, vlak na de soevereiniteitsoverdracht aan Indonesië, besloot het kabinet-Drees dat alle ontheemde gezinnen zelf voor hun tijdelijke opvang in NL moesten betalen.
In tegenstelling tot de tijdelijk uitgezonden, witte Nederlanders die als repatrianten tussen 1946 en 1949 waren opgevangen.
