L.C. van Daalen, Leo
flew one of the first P51 to Medan nov '47
Crashed H-339 on 30-05-1947
"In the morning of May 30, 1947, Leo with his Mustang P-51 participates in a "follow the leader" exercise over Medan, when his aircraft ends up in a toll flight (or vrille) at low altitude for unknown reasons. Rotating around all its axes quickly loses height. If there is still enough height, the device can be stabilized again by taking a dive, but Leo is then too close to the ground and crashes. His body was found crushed and burned. Leo has turned 26 and finds his final resting place at the Dutch War Cemetery Leuwigajah in Cimahi."
